Marigold Practices

MARIGOLD HYBRID ALEENA
Features
  • Plant Growth- Vigorous and bushy.
  • Flower Colour – Yellow
  • Flower Shape- Round
  • Flower Diameter- 7-8 cm
  • Flower Weight- 15-17 g
  • Days to 1st Plucking- 55-60 days after transplanting.
  • Remarks- High yielding and very compact flower.
Sowing Time June to September & December to February
Nursery Raising 100 sq. m nursery area is sufficient for raising one hectare. Apply FYM at 300 kg along with 50 g of Sodium molybdate and100 g of Borax.
Sow the seeds at 10 cm between rows in raised seed beds after drenching it with copper oxychloride (2.5 g/lit). Transplant 30 to 40 days old seedlings.
Field Preparation
Ploughing Deeply plough the field 2-3 times to achieve a fine, loose tilth, ensuring good aeration and drainage.
Soil Ideal is well-drained, loamy, or sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.5-7.5.
Drainage Create raised beds (20-30 cm high) to prevent waterlogging
Seed Treatment Thiram@2.0 gram/kg of seed before sowing
Spacing
  • 45 x 30 cm
Seed Rate 1.5- 2.0 kg/ha.
Manure and Fertilizer
FYM Apply 20-25 tonnes of Farmyard Manure (FYM) /hectare 10-15 days before sowing, mixing it well with the soil.
Basal Fertilizer Dose
  • 90;90;75 kg NPK/ hectare
  • Apply 45:90:75 kg NPK/ha as basal and 45 kg N/ha as top dressing 45 days after planting..
Irrigation
  • Irrigation should be given immediately after planting and life irrigation on third day after planting.
  • Irrigation is done once in a week or as and when necessary. Water stagnation should be avoided.
Interculture operation
  • Weeding should be done as and when necessary. Water stagnation should be avoided.
  • Nipping/tipping
    Thirty days after planting terminal portion should be tipped / removed to encourage the branching.
Diseases & Pest Control Insects

  • Mealy bug:
    Spray prophenophos or dimethoate @ 2ml/litre. Spray Fish oil rosin soap @ 25g/litre.
  • Thrips:
    Set up yellow sticky trap 20 per acre Released Amphelicies cucumeris spider parasitoid. Fipronil 1.5ml/litre or spiromesifen 0.75ml/litre or azardiractin 3ml/litre
  • Spider:
    It can be controlled by spraying Kelthane 1 ml/lit of water

Diseases
Leaf spot

  • Leaf spot can be controlled by spraying Bavistin 1 g / lit of water.

Root rot

  • Drench 1 g/lit of Bavisitin to control root rot.

Features
  • Plant Growth- Vigorous and bushy.
  • Flower Colour – Orange
  • Flower Shape- Round
  • Flower Diameter- 7.5-8.5 cm
  • Flower Weight- 14-18 g
  • Days to 1st Plucking- 60-65 days after transplanting.
  • Remarks- Compact flower, good for long distance shipping.
