- Apply whole of FYM together with P2O5 and K2O and half of N at the time of field preparation. Remaining half N should be applied at the time of earthing up.

- If seed is sown in sufficient moisture in soil, the first irrigation should be given after germination.
- Subsequent irrigations are given according to the soil moisture and seasons..

| Interculture operation |
- After 20 days sowing, thinning is done to leave single seedling per hill.
- After thinning, application of fertilizer, watering and then light earthing up is done.
- Only 2-3 cm of the upper part of the plant is covered with soil. At least, one such light earthing up is essential.

- Flea beetles and Leaf Miner:Leaf miner and flea beetle can be controlled by spraying Malathion 50 EC 2 ml/lit.
